SEND

Welcome to St Lawrence’s SEN information report.  This section of our website describes our schools ‘offer’ for children with special educational needs.  The links here relate to students who have barriers that affect their learning and are recognised as needing specific types of support.  Please click on the links above for more information on how St Lawrence School works to support our pupils with a range of additional needs.

Our mission statement

Our school is a place where we all come together as one community to learn, have fun and make lasting friendships, all under God’s love and care.

At St Lawrence R C Primary school we believe that all members of our school community should learn and reach their full potential together.  We endeavor to develop practices that promote the right for everyone to fully participate in all aspects of school life by promoting initiatives that remove barriers to participation and by actively promoting equality and social inclusion.

Our SENCO is Mrs J Gough who can be contacted via the school on 0208 890 3878

Equality in Teaching and learning

We provide all our pupils with the opportunity to succeed and to reach the highest level of personal achievement. We do this by:

  • Ensuring equality of access for all pupils and preparing them for life in a diverse society

  • Using materials that reflect the diversity of the school, population and local community without stereotyping

  • Promoting attitudes and values that challenge any discriminatory behaviour or prejudice

  • Providing opportunities for pupils to appreciate their own culture and celebrate the diversity of other cultures

  • Seeking to involve all parents in supporting their child’s education

  • Utilising teaching approaches appropriate for the whole school population which are inclusive and reflective of our pupils.

Equality in Admissions and Exclusions

Our admissions arrangements are fair and transparent and do not discriminate on the grounds of race, gender, belief, disability and/or socio-economic background. Priority admission will always be given to Practising Catholics as stated in our Admissions Policy. This is an exemption granted under the Equalities Act 2010 to VA Schools.

Equal Opportunities for Staff

All staff appointments and promotions are made on the basis of merit and ability and in compliance with the law.
