Carrying Out God's Work

February 2024 - CAFOD Big Walk - CAFOD’S Big Walk this year will help people in different parts of the world as they strive to overcome poverty.  Our Caritas Ambassadors joined our parish for the CAFOD Big Walk.  Our children gathered in front of the Statue of Our Lady before walking to Feltham cemetery. They joined in with the Rosary with other members of our Parish.  Father John gave the children bookmarks as a memento.

“In God, no act of love, no matter how small, and generous effort, will ever be lost.” (Pope Francis)

January 2024 - Sister Silvana & Caritas - We welcomed Sister Silvana from Caritas to speak to the children in assembly about the work of Caritas and award our Caritas ambassadors with their badges. Together we endeavour to create a society where all are respected and can live with dignity and worth.

The Caritas Ambassadors are witnesses to God's faith by putting prayers into action and supporting those who are less fortunate than themselves.

December 2023 - The Passage, Westminster - We collected donations from both our Infant and Junior Nativity performances for ‘The Passage’ homeless charity based in Westminster. Today, we made a donation of £880 on your behalf. This will make a real difference to those who have nowhere to stay. Thank you again for your generosity.

December 2023 - Surplus to Supper - We are delighted to be able to provide food and toiletries to the wider community with a collection from Surplus to Supper.  All our donated food will be distributed throughout our community and help those less fortunate during the Christmas holidays.

December 2023 - Infant and Junior Gift Service - Thank you once again for your kind and generous gifts of food for our class hampers.  All the donated food was used to create a class hamper which was presented at our gift services.  Father David blessed the gifts at our Infant service led by Year 1.  Father John celebrated Mass with our Junior children in Church.  All our hampers will be distributed throughout our school and local community to help those less fortunate.

December 2023 - Caritas Advent Giving Calendar -  Every year since 2019 schools, parishes, individuals, families and businesses have used the Caritas Advent Giving Calendar to support their local food project and as part of the preparation for Christmas.

Each child was asked to chose an item from the calendar.  Each class will then prepare a hamper to be presented at our Christmas Gift Masses.  They will be then donated to our local community.

Thank you as always for your generosity.

December 2023 - Wintershall's Travelling Crib - The Wintershall Travelling Crib arrived at Lambeth Palace for Advent.  Our Year 6 House & Sports Captains were very fortunate to be chosen to take part in such a special event.  Our children met Mary as she got ready for her baby, a shepherd left to look after his sheep, a donkey travelling for the census, Zachariah who worked in the temple, a wise man preparing for the journey and Elizabeth who had a message from the angel.  Each child received a special token to remind them of the journey to Bethlehem and preparation of the birth of Jesus Christ.

December 2023 - Spreading Christmas Cheer -  Our school choir, led by Mrs Hills and Miss Gunning joined the senior members of our Church community to celebrate a special Mass. Our children were reminded about the gifts which the Wise Men gave to Jesus and the gifts which the children give to the charity by their fundraising. Just as the Wise Men gave to Jesus, so they had given to the Children’s Society so it can do the Lord’s work.

November 2023 - All Saints & All Souls Day -  Today we came together in a whole school Mass to celebrate All Saints Day and All Souls Day, known as All Hallows.  All Saints Day, celebrated on 1st November commemorates all the saints of the Church throughout Christian history.  All Souls Day, celebrated on 2nd November, is a day of of prayer and remembrance for the faithful departed.  Thank you Father John and Father David for leading us in this prayerful gathering.

O Generous patron of the Churches poor, St. Lawrence, pray to the One God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit that all the poor of the Church in need in every corner of the world may feel the effect of the love of their brothers and sisters who seek to help them.

May we come some day with all those whom we helped on earth to the bright mansions of heaven where we will enjoy the riches of God’s house and the company of the Savior who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen. St Lawrence, Pray for us.
