"A different language is a different vision of life"
Federico Fellini
At St Lawrence Catholic Primary School our children are lucky to be taught by our wonderful native Italian speaking teacher, Miss Rosanna. The children participate in weekly Italian lessons where they are given the opportunity to develop their skills in reading, writing and speaking Italian – key skills when learning a modern
foreign language.
The acquisition of a modern foreign language opens the door to the wider world in which we live. It gives children a better understanding of the multicultural society we are all so lucky to be a part of and helps them to develop their communication and literacy skills which ultimately lay the
foundation for future language learning. In addition to this, the learning of a modern foreign language (in our case Italian) provides a medium for cross-curricular links and for the reinforcement of the knowledge, skills and understanding developed in other languages.
